The Cape Town Islamic Educational Centre and Cape Town Ulama Board recently hosted a public event that brought together prominent scholars and members of the community to remember and reflect on the sacrifices of the Ahlul Bayt, specifically Imam Hussain and the events of Karbala.

THE event held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Masjidul Kareem Hall in Eagle Park, was a testament to the unity and solidarity of the Cape Town Muslim community. The evening began with a moving recitation of the Quran and Dhikr by Hafez Adam Ziyaee and his group, followed by a message from Moulana Sayed Imraan Ziyaee underscoring the importance of coming together to commemorate such significant historical events.
Throughout the event, various guests recited praises and poetry in honour of the Ahlul Bayt, setting a reflective and solemn tone for the discussions that followed. Moulana Sayed Imraan Ziyaee, Mufti Sayed Haroon Al Azhari, and chief guest Hazrat Mufti Akbar Hazarvi from Pretoria delivered talks that delved into the historical significance of Imam Hussain’s sacrifice and its enduring message of justice and righteousness.
The scholars provided valuable insights into the events of Karbala, emphasising the bravery and selflessness of Imam Hussain in the face of tyranny and oppression. They highlighted the timeless lesson of standing up against injustice and evil forces, drawing parallels between the battle of Karbala and contemporary challenges faced by communities around the world.
The event was attended by a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life, who left with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Ahlul Bayt’s legacy. The Cape Town Islamic Educational Centre and Cape Town Ulama Board expressed their gratitude to all attendees for their support and participation, underscoring the importance of coming together to remember and honour the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt.
