Nouveau Coffee & Grill is a type of fine dining restaurant that combines high-quality fare with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our recent visit showcased the restaurant’s impressive menu, satisfactory service, and upscale ambiance.

Joined by two other dining companions, we decided to visit Nouveau for a weeknight treat. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming hostess who ushered us to a vacant table for four. As we walked from one corner of the restaurant to another, we were immediately enveloped by the warmth of a roaring fireplace, creating a toasty atmosphere that shielded us from the winter cold. The decor struck a perfect balance between modern and cozy, with a mix of rustic and chic elements. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and other unique details contributed to a setting that felt both stylish and homey. The spacious floor plan and outdoor seating area makes the space an ideal spot for various occasions shared in ‘the presence of a diverse group of people. The front of house ‘bar-like’ island is an attractive feature that gives patrons insight into the craftsmanship behind beverage making. From this space, hot drinks, colourful mocktails, and a selection of gourmet milkshakes emerge.

Since Nouveau Coffee & Grill’s establishment in 2022, their quality of food has certainly improved. The restaurant’s menu is extensive, containing over 70 food items that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. As an entrée, one of our dining companions ordered the Trio Sliders with a side portion of potato fries. The mini beef buns were beautifully plated on a wooden serving board for a unique touch. The patties were juicy and flavourful, topped with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, a slice of tomato, jalapenos, and a tangy house sauce. The buns were soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, making each bite a delightful and fulfilling experience.

For one of our main courses, we opted for the rump steak. Cooked to a requested medium-rare, the steak was tender and well basted in a BBQ sauce. The meal was accompanied by a side of rustic cut chips and sauteed vegetables while the broccoli, carrot and marrow cuts added a fresh contrast to the rich meat. My choice of meal was the Tandoori chicken curry. The chicken cubes were perfectly cooked, tender and infused with the vibrant spices characteristic of tandoori cooking. The curry sauce was rich and aromatic, with a perfect balance of spices that provided a pleasant heat without overwhelming the palate. It was served with a portion of garlic tzatziki and my choice of garlic naan. This particular dish demonstrated the restaurant’s ability to execute diverse cuisines with skill and authenticity.

The drink offerings at Nouveau Coffee & Grill were as impressive as their food. The restaurant’s Watermelon and Cranberry cooler was a particularly refreshing palate cleanser after all the bursting flavours of our main course dishes. Some of the other standout beverages on Nouveau’s menu was the Strawberry Daiquiri and the Burfee milkshake.

This weeknight outing worked in our favour as the prompt arrival of our food allowed us all to enjoy our meals simultaneously. The staff were also attentive and friendly, offering us insightful recommendations that helped us decide which dishes we were most drawn to. In addition to the good food and service, the atmosphere at Nouveau Coffee and Grill contributed significantly to the restaurant’s appeal, earning an overall rating of 8/10.
