A poem by Hassen Lorgat
The wall to wall coverage
Of the occupiers’ army’s rescue
One could not miss
The four had names and surnames
They were “the diamonds” rescued
from the densely populated Nuseirat / one of 4 refugee camps/
You may also want to read
in the middle areas of the Gaza strip /
/ a place where our friends and comrades were born
No doubt the freed captives / “hostages” of 8 June were loved
and missed for 8 months by their families and friends/
But their joy and laughter / if they are human
Must have been dampened /
/ by the sorrow and tears for those not far away from them/
These diamonds were extracted
and processed
leaving behind
a trail of blood, death and destruction
Hellfire missiles and other tools of terror
courtesy of the US and their allies
Underwrote the mission
…the ongoing Nakba
the ever reliable Gaza Ministry of Health
read the death toll of the unsung ones
274 Palestinians killed
more than 600 wounded
whilst the four are free and happy to be home
/ if they are human they must think of/
the hundreds who have no homes to return to
but the rubble / and if lucky / will return to their maker
And they
will be wrapped in white kafan shrouds
for a burial
fit for the martyrs that they are

The Health Ministry in Gaza reported that 274 people, including at least 64 children, were killed in the massacre by Israeli forces during a raid on the Nuseirat refugee camp, ostensibly to free four Israeli captives held there. The raid also resulted in the death of three more captives, including one US citizen.
