FOUR young females from the Cape Flats area in Cape Town, South Africa, have defied the odds by memorising the entire Holy Quran. Sayyidah Madiha Mohamed, Tauheerah Bibi Carrim, Ayesha Naidoo, and Hafsah Elias, students of CTIEC Zia Ul Banaat in Eagle Park, have achieved a remarkable feat that has not only demonstrated their dedication and discipline but also celebrated their faith and commitment to their religion.
The Quran, the religious book of muslims, is a sacred text consisting of more than 600 pages and 114 chapters, all in the Arabic language. The journey of memorising the Quran, also known as Hifz, is a challenging and time-consuming task that requires unwavering dedication and disciplined effort. However, the rewards of committing the entire Quran to memory are truly immeasurable, as it not only deepens one’s connection to their faith but also provides a strong sense of accomplishment and spiritual fulfilment.
The young learners from CTIEC Zia Ul Banaat have shown exceptional determination in pursuing this demanding task, pushing through barriers and focusing on their goal despite the worldly issues and social pressures that often distract and deter today’s youth. Through their commitment and hard work, these girls have not only achieved a significant milestone in their educational journey but have also set an inspiring example for others in their community and beyond.
The celebration held on Tuesday September 24, 2024 to mark the completion of their memorisation was a joyous occasion filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment as part of their heritage. Family members, friends, teachers, and community members came together to congratulate Sayyidah Madiha, Tauheerah Bibi, Ayesha, and Hafsah on their remarkable achievement. The girls were presented with crowns and gifts as tokens of recognition for their dedication and perseverance.
