THE Muslim Thinker NPC proudly introduces ‘Faith, Faculty and Future’, a seminar designed to inspire first-year and undergraduate students to reflect on the purpose of education, rethink its role in shaping their academic and personal growth, and reframe perspectives through the lens of universal humanistic and Islamic values.
The seminar will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Islamia Auditorium in Imam Haron Road, Lansdowne, with registration at 8:30am.
The following distinguished line-up will address the seminar and interact with the attendees:
- Professor Yusef Waghid, a specialist in Philosophy of Education.
- Professor Wahbie Long, the recently appointed Head of Department of Psychology at the University of Cape Town.
- Naadiya Moosajee, an engineer by training and a serial entrepreneur.
- Ammaar Abbass, a fifth-year medical student at University of Stellenbosch.
Rooted in Quranic wisdom
Guided by the Quranic verse: ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not?’ (Az-Zumar, 39:9), this seminar emphasises the value of knowledge and its role in fostering ethical leadership, intellectual curiosity and societal betterment. The verse challenges students to honour both knowledge and its seekers, integrating faith and academic pursuits with purpose and etiquette (adab).
