OVER a hundred young individuals from various areas convened at CTIEC Masjidul Kareem in Eagle Park (Cape Town) on Thursday, August 22 for a special event focused on spiritual rejuvenation and physical training.
Organised by the United Youth Movement, the monthly gathering of Dhikr aims to uplift youth and maintain their connection to Islam. The evening commenced with Nasheed recitals, followed by a standing Hadra dhikr session, and concluded with jiu jitsu and silat training.
The Cape Town Ulama Board commends the group of young men representing different tariqahs for spearheading such an innovative initiative that aims to nurture the spiritual and physical well-being of the youth, particularly in the face of prevalent challenges such as drugs and gang violence in society.
A first time participant, Brother Adams, expressed his optimism at witnessing different Sunni Groups coming together in unity, contrasting the isolated disunity that plagues many other cities due to minority groups creating fitna. The event signifies a positive step towards cohesion and empowerment within the community of Cape Town.
