Salaamah Solomon, a registered dietitian in the Department of Human Nutrition at Tygerberg Academic Hospital is conducting a study aimed at finding out how Muslims with diabetes are managing during Ramadaan with regards to their diabetes treatment and diet.
If you or someone you know has diabetes and is fasting, or is not able to fast during this Ramadan, then you can join Solomon’s Cape Town community-based study on diabetes and Ramadaan.
‘The information that I get will help me present to other healthcare professionals to make them aware of what patients are going through and how they can improve the care that they provide for their patients so that they can fast safer and better,’ Solomon explained.
This involves one interview over Zoom and no blood tests will be taken.
An incentive of R100 airtime or 2GB data will be given upon successful enrolment.
‘Please help me by sharing your experience about your diabetes, Ramadaan experience and diet,’ is the request from Solomon.
To join the survey call or WhatsApp Salaamah Solomon on 072 846 0150.
