The stage is set for some of Cape Town’s brightest young minds as Radio 786 launches its inaugural High School Quiz – an exciting new academic competition that will bring together top Grade 10 and 11 learners in a celebration of knowledge, teamwork and excellence.
Taking place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Quiz is the first initiative of its kind by the station and is set to become an annual flagship event that inspires a culture of learning while recognising the outstanding academic talent found in schools across the city.
Learners from Cape Town high schools competing for top honours will battle it out across a range of knowledge-based categories designed to test their general knowledge, critical thinking and teamwork.
Adding to the excitement, the winning school will walk away with R20 000, while each member of the victorious team will receive a tablet, rewarding both collective achievement and individual excellence. All participants will receive a gift, with spot prizes also up for grabs.
Radio 786 is also proud to announce Oasis Group Holdings as the headline sponsor of the inaugural High School Quiz. Their generous partnership has made the event possible and underscores a shared commitment to investing in education and creating opportunities that empower young people to realise their full potential.
